Rainer Beach Community Club Board Meeting

Agenda

  1. All – Assessment of virtual membership meeting on January 8 and speaker Wei Cai of the Seattle Public Library (5 mins)
  • We enjoyed the speaker. We were sorry to learn that she is retiring as she is a very dedicated librarian
  1. All – 2022 Board – Are job descriptions / work instructions complete for non-trustee positions?  The new board positions will officially begin with the February Monthly Membership Meeting on February 9 (5 mins)
  1. President – Keegan Kathie 
  2. VP – Alan  Gerd
  3. Treasurer – Gerd Alan.
  4. Corresponding Sec – Anne  Danielle.
  5. Recording Sec – Joan  Anne
  6. Trustees – Danielle, Brett, Dorothy  Erin, Jessica, Joan
  • Everyone should be encouraged current bi-laws currently on rainierbeachcovmmunityclub.org  website
  • Kathie will send RCW guide lines  protecting board members duties and legal responsibilities. 
  • we are required to sign a document that we do not have a conflict of interest
  • Danielle will be sending emails for meetings reminders beginning 2/1
  • Kathie asked if all board member would send their current email and phone numbers to Danielle 
  1. All – Committee chairs (10 mins)
  • committee chair need to be active members or trustees 
  • membership committee important in rebuilding membership and attendance at meetings
  • Alan will continue to chair technology committee for an additional year
  • membership chairs will reviewed at next board meeting
  • Brett volunteered to support tech committee and be responsible for running zoom meetings

  2. Committee chairs should be discussed at next board meeting with Prez nominating slate in March Member Meeting
  1. Kathie – Brainstorm 2022 planning: civic, community, social activities. What, when, lead person. (30 min)

  1. Keegan – Survey Status  (5 min)
  • survey designed to get feedback what type of events members would like to participate in
  • Keegan updated survey to reflect feedback from previous version
  • Keegan will send survey to Anne and Danielle before meeting and there will be a reminder in the meeting announcements
  1. Gerd – Financial status Gerd (5 min)
  • We have another contract for a dance class 
  • Gerd posted detailed info 
  • Gerd received 2 additional rental requests
  • Taxes are filed without an accountant

  1. Anne – Board approval of letter from RBCC to oppose building a service road through that park.  See attached. (5 mins)
  • letter was reviewed with membership
  • SPU is seriously reconsidering creating road due to community pressure
  • Friends of Dead Horse Canyon will be part of planning for future of canyon
  1. Danielle – Garden Tour 2022  (5 mins)
  • garden tour date hasn’t been determined but will occur this spring
  • committee on board to repeat last years effort
  1. Alan – Google Drive Updates (5 mins)
  1. Added Harvest Social planning doc under Social Chair in Google Drive
  2. Added Nominating Committee doc under Board and Committee chair in Google Drive
  3. Added Tom’s RBCC website menu writeup to Technology Chair in Google Drive
  4. Perhaps the new Corresponding Chair (Danielle) can update Mailchimp doc with updated screenshots?
  1. Alan – Brendan Works Waters planting project update (5 mins)
  • Brendan had someone from city that he does not need permit to plant flowers or shrubs. We can help be a fiscal sponsor and support if we get grant by purchasing shrubs and soil.
  • Alan will forward email to Kathie to review info from Brendan
  1. Alan – Treasurer stuff completed prior to official handoff (5 mins)

  1. Alan – Perhaps next board meeting depending but possible Zoom hosts for 2022 besides Alan – Help start meetings and handle letting people in, watch chat (5 mins)

Future speakers:

  1. February (confirmed) – Afua Kouyate, Founder and Executive Director, ADEFUA Cultural Education Workshop, a non-profit organization that is central to youth and families within and surrounding Seattle communities. It provides year-round various interactive activities that engage serves and have available West African experiences, both academically and socially to all generations.

  2. Legislative Assistant for Teresa Mosqueda to talk on zoning policies and impact on RB (Anne)
