Recycle Campaign

See below for a sample e-mail to send out to groups:

My name is __________ and I’m a member of the Rainier Beach Community Club, a non-profit club in Rainier Beach working to improve the quality of life in Rainier Beach. The city of Seattle is continuing its campaign to
increase recycling and reduce garbage.  This is good for the environment and reduces the city’s cost for getting rid of garbage. To promote this, the City and Waste Management have started a competition between neighborhoods over
which neighborhood can increase its recycling, and reduce its garbage the most between October 2011 and March 2012.
Neighborhoods are defined by garbage day pickup and only include residences (not businesses, condos, etc.).  Within each neighborhood, a community group has been asked to take the lead for the neighborhood. RBCC is the community group leading the effort in our area.
The Friday South garbage pickup day is a big area and RBCC is only a small part of this.  We are seeking other community groups that would be willing to cover a certain section of this area to promote recycling. We are hoping you might agree to do this. Waste Management will supply canvassers, print posters and flyers and be supportive
throughout the project.  In our area (RBCC), we plan to promote recycling by contacting schools, clubs, business
associations, churches, etc and asking them to either actively promote recycling or invite a speaker to address the group. There is a $50,000 prize attached to this contest. RBCC would plan to share that with other groups if we were the winning area.
I’d love to connect with a member of your club and talk more about the project.  I think it’s a valuable opportunity for all of us, not just for the obvious reasons, but also an opportunity to build relationships within our larger Southend community. Thanks for your time.  I look forward to hearing from you.
